Amy South

Amy is 20 years old and has been part of the Academy for the past 7 years. She has danced herself since the tender age of 4 and has grown up knowing that this is something she would like to continue with in her future.

She has a strong passion for dancing and being at Step 2 Starz has really enhanced that, giving her confidence not only as a dancer but also as a person.
Amy trains in street dance, musical Theatre, ballet, contemporary and ISTD modern.
She has been involved in all of the Academys annual Dance shows, all 4 West End performances which the Academy have participated in, charity events, carnivals, competitions, workshops and several organised dance trips.

Having danced at the Academy for several years Amy was delighted to be asked by Shona in June 2014 to join the teaching team and become a Dance teacher for Step 2 starz. Since then Shona and Amy have worked closely together to create a hard working professional Dance teaching approach and continue to promote the dedicated and enthusiastic ethos throughout the Academy. Amy now solely teaches the 8-11 years musical Theatre classes.

In October 2015 Amy travelled to London with Shona and completed a 3 day teaching training course to become a qualified acrobatic Arts instructor. She now teaches this alongside Shona at the Academy and has recently had over 25 students take their first exams gaining 100% pass rate.

In April 2017 Amy also attended a “pirouette surgery” teaching course held by Rosina Andrews. This was a fantastic opportunity and developed teaching practices for various different turns.

Amy plans to continue dancing at the Academy alongside teaching herself. She would also like to progress through her ISTD modern exams in the hope to take her own teaching qualifications in the future.
